Atwater Brewing GR first day open review

I visited Atwater Brewing Oct 13th on their first official day open at about 5:00pm. First you’ll notice the exterior of The Rowe and Atwater on the ground floor look really great after the renovations and with outdoor seating on the sidewalk along Monroe Ave it creates an inviting space. Inside was crowded on opening day but because I brought a dog I would be sitting outside anyways so it wasn’t a concern though without exterior heaters it got chilly as the sun went down. Indoor space was a mix of high tops, tables and bar seating with lots of windows this will be a great spot to sit and watch pedestrians while you sip a beer.
I got a waitress outside and she was prompt bringing both beer and food menus. They had already sold out of a few beers but with 40 taps there were still plenty to try. Next visit I will probably do a sampler and the cocktail menu has some interesting concoctions too. The food menu features ‘wieners’ that as you can see in the pictures are like sliders that cost $4 each. I sampled the Michigan Blueberry Chucker Clucker, Johnny Appleseed, and the Ball Parker with the Ball Parker being my favorite due to the classic flavors. With a side of waffle fries that are just basic tasting it would be a modest meal. As you can see on the food menu there are more substantial offerings at a higher price as well as appetizers, salads, and pizza so plenty to choose from. You might want to try going at lunch to get a cheaper combo price. They also provided sauces including; ketchup, mustard, barbecue, and hot sauce that all tasted pretty basic which was nice.

Overall a good first impression with the service, food and building. I only tried one beer so can’t give a good review but with the variety of options and Atwater’s success around the state I suspect they will create some good beers here in Grand Rapids.

Atwater Brewery in GR now open!

Atwater Brewing opens a new location in Grand Rapids TODAY! Inside The Rowe at 201 Michigan Street NW, this new brewery has a prime location and with 40 taps you’ll want to check it out asap. Atwater is known as a Detroit brewer but now with a presence in Beer City USA they’re bridging the two biggest cities in Michigan. This Grand Rapids location will allow Atwater to experiment with new recipes and test them in a refined beer loving city before possibly brewing larger batches in Detroit.

New Holland Knickerbocker Brewery Grand Opening soon

The Knickerbocker brewery location in Grand Rapids from New Holland Brewing is set to open to the public on September 15th, 2016! This brewpub is in a completely new building, built to New Hollands specifications so it should be amazing. I’ve heard the kitchen has its own butchery area and you can see some of the brewing and distilling from the restaurant areas. I’m excited about the beer garden during this fall weather and for Art Prize visitors to try.

Pigeon Hill brewery Grand Opening today

Pigeon Hill Brewing Company is opening Friday, March 21! The brewery, located at 500 W. Western Ave,
Muskegon, Michigan 49440, will open its doors to the public from 7-11 p.m. Friday, March 21st and from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, March 22nd. After the weekend updated hours will be added to their facebook page as they determine demand and their beer supplies.

Pigeon Hill’s tap list will feature the Walter Blonde Ale, the 1762 Russian Imperial Stout, the Besto Bohemian Pilsner, the LMFAO (Let Me Fetch An Oatmeal) Stout, the Shifting Sands IPA and the Petite Soleil Saison. The brewery will also offer non-alcoholic pink lemonade and glass bottle Faygo. The brewery will not serve food.

During opening weekend they will be limiting the number of people in the taproom to allow for the best experience possible so depending on demand you might have to wait in line outside. Also their bathroom facilities aren’t finished yet so they have provided port-a-potties outdoors as well but they will have beer and they didn’t want to wait for contractors to finish building until they could serve you!

Once inside Pigeon Hill brewery look for interesting features brought back and preserved from the local history including tables made with wood salvaged from the bottom of Muskegon Lake from the Lumber Era, a pool table built by Brunswick that was reportedly played on by silent film star and Bluffton vacationer Buster Keaton and light fixtures recycled from S.D. Warren (the Sappi paper mill), Continental Motors Co. and Brunswick Bowling.
