Summer Craft Beer Festival

Summer Craft Beer Festival – John Ball Park – July 19th, 2014 2:00-7:00pm

Sample over 100 beers from a variety of the country’s best craft breweries. In addition to the incredible selection of beer, there will be live music, various vendors and mouth watering food available for purchase. This event is held outdoors in the picnic area of John Ball Zoo with parking adjacent or on the side streets. No pets are allowed and obviously it is a 21 and up event. This is the fourth annual Summer Craft Beer Fest sponsored by the local Grand Rapids radio stations (97.9 WGRD, Channel 95.7, 98.7 WFGR, 100.5 The River and 1410 AM The Touch) so it should be well run and organized. While the majority of craft brewers at the festival will be from Michigan there will be some from: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont and Washington. Some of the music acts that will be playing include: Tyler Howe, The Campanellis, Upstage Crew.

VIP Tickets: $45 in advance, $55 at the door. Includes a chance to sample limited rare brews in the VIP tent, a $5 food voucher, 20 sample tickets and a souvenir sample glass
General Admission Tickets: $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Includes 15 sample tickets and a souvenir sample glass. $10 designated driver tickets available too. $2.50 service fee per ticket when ordering online.

Each tour will visit 3-4 local breweries with approximately 35 minutes per stop. Drink a pint, grab a snack, and of course a fresh growler of your favorite brew and jump back on board GRBB to ice down your purchase for enjoyment on the bus or later at home. Yes, drinking on GRBB is permitted! Ice cold water, cups and a “pretzel necklace” are also provided.

The cost is $30 per person.

All participants must be 21 or older.

Another new beer fest will descend on Grand Rapids, MI at Ah Nab Awen Park on Saturday July 12, 2014 1:00 – 5:00 PM (VIP at NOON).

The Summer Beer Fest is a fantastic beer tasting festival in which you receive a sampling cup and 15 3oz serving tickets (VIP’s receive 20) included in your admission price (assuming you’re 21 or older). GR Beer Tours.com is open for business with tickets for sale and tours starting in June, 2014! Now you can book a prepackaged tour or get a group of friends and devise your own private outing to all the best breweries in Grand Rapids, MI (Beer City, USA) without worrying about the driving.
The tours involve a ride in a 15 passenger van with stops at 3 or 4 craft breweries, beer samples at each stop, a tour of one of the breweries and an energetic guide that will teach you about beer and the local brewing history in Grand Rapids.
There are a variety of public tours you can join covering various areas of Grand Rapids city and the outlying regions too. Each tour should run between 3-5 hours and provide time for lunch (not provided in price).

Harmony Brewing expanding to Little Mexico

Harmony Brewing is planning to put $1.2 million into a new brewpub located in the west side of Grand Rapids in the area known as Little Mexico. Harmony Brewing is purchasing the former Little Mexico Café at 401 Stocking Ave. NW and will be renovating it to create a brewpub with added capacity to compliment their current brewery in Easttown. This new brewery is expected to open near the end of 2014 and will added a second brewery to the west side of Grand Rapids along with Mitten Brewing which is also expanding this year. The brewery will have a menu filled with local ethnic foods to compliment the beers brewed there. With the addition of more brewing capacity at the new location plans are to brew staple beers there and do more experimental small batches at the original Harmony Brewery in Easttown.
